1984-91 O'Connell & Son Ink 8x10 Watercolor Portraits
T.S. O'Connell first started the 8x10 series in 1984 and continued expanding it throughout the 1990s. When I last corresponded with him in 1991, the checklist for the 8x10s had grown to 129 different and since them I've identified 20 additional and the latest total is 149.
Each watercolor portrait is hand-numbered to 500. After creating the black & white drawing for a player, he printed out copies. Then when you ordered the portraits he would hand paint them and send them through the mail. As part of his agreement with taking his magazine editing position, he agreed to no longer sell any of his products since they were unlicensed. Last year he sold his remaining inventory to Frisch Cards so some of the black & white uncolored portraits have come onto the market. See some examples at the link below.
