2020 Ajax Dog Food Retro Customs
*Note: some collectors wished for some set identification on the card, so I had the designer put together a simple back.
This is a custom set based on one of my favorite unlicensed sets from the 1980s, the 1984 Ajax Dog Food set. It was a fake dog food company that only had a few good players in the set. I have the image of a guy in his basement patching together different cutout images and taping them together to capture the final image used on the card.
The retro designer kept the original feel of the cards, with the low quality photos, the same fonts and of course, Ajax with his tail overlapping onto the image. They are also printed on a similar glossy paper that was used on the original 1984 set.
The 1983 Ajax Dog Food set goes for big bucks, but this retro set is not for investors, this is merely a collector focused issue.
